Arachnura spp.
Arachnura spp. Also known as the Tailed Forest Spider, can be found in a range of colours including pink, white, and yellow, with yellow and white being the most commonly observed. These spiders are often seen on the edges of forests, along tracks and the likes. They are most commonly spotted from October to late February. Females are frequently found with their egg sacs, which often resemble a rolled-up dead leaf in their web.
This species is notable for the distinct tail-like extension on the female’s abdomen, which can reach up to 18 mm in length, with approximately one-third of that length being the tail. In contrast, males are significantly smaller, measuring around 2 mm, and lack the tail. Males are also much less commonly seen.
