About Bryce McQuillan

I’m a self-taught macro photographer based in New Zealand. Over the past 20 years, my primary focus has been on photographing New Zealand’s fascinating flora and fauna, which includes plants, fungi, birds, and other wildlife. However, my particular interest lies in the diverse range of invertebrates that call New Zealand home. New Zealand has an incredible diversity of over 30,000 invertebrate species! Many of these species are endemic, meaning they can only be found in New Zealand. Despite their diversity, A large number of species have yet to be properly identified and photographed.

With new technology, improved software, and a better understanding of conservation, I am constantly improving and evolving my approach to photographing and capturing New Zealand’s incredible biodiversity.
With so many species in New Zealand and the amount of time I spend photographing, I simply cannot upload every species and image I capture, so I am focusing on key species and portraits of our species for the website. I’m adding additional images to Inaturlist: https://www.inaturalist.org/people/bryce_mcquillan
